This area has some mighty fine architects, but generally their work is unknown because their contracts take them outside the area. Not a lot of new buildings under construction here.

However, we’ll get a chance to sample their work as part of Architecture as Art for ARTOBERFEST, an upcoming celebration of this area’s art world.

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, the 1078 Galley, 820 Broadway, in Chico, will feature their architecture. To my knowledge, this is one of the first times we’ll get to see their work in one place.

LARRY COFFMAN gave me a heads-up this was coming, and I’m glad he did.

The area architects presenting their work will be PATRICK COLE, GLENN BRUNO, DAVID GRIFFITH, NAN JONES, TIM LEEFELDT, TOM NORLIE, DAVE SCHLEIGER, TOM TARMAN, PAUL HENRICKS and COFFMAN. Associates work will also be shown.

Architects will gather at a reception at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the gallery. This would be a great opportunity for students thinking about a career in architecture.
